Mr. J.V. Akins was born November 7, 1933, to the late Willie Akins and Claire Barton Akins, in Forrest City Arkansas. He was born into a large family. J.V. moved to Kansas City, Missouri with his wife, Barbara Akins along with their child Jerry Akins. They conceived another son Kevin G. Akins. The Lord called him home April 29, 2022 in the comfort of his home with his wife and son by his side. He confessed a hope in Christ at Tree of Life Church in Kansas City, Missouri under the leadership of Rev. Jerry Akins. J.V. was a Construction Worker in Kansas City, Missouri until he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Kevin Akins; his brothers, Roosevelt Akins and John Arthur Akins. J.V. leaves to cherish his memory; wife, Barbara Akins, of Little Rock, Arkansas; one son, Jerry Akins of Little Rock, Arkansas; one brother, James (Catherine) Akins of Forrest City, Arkansas; two sisters, Ester Mae Smith and Theresa (Ransom) Smith, both of Goodwin, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Antonio Akins, Elisha Akins (Mikki) and Bridgette Akins, all of Kansas City, Missouri and seven grandchildren.
